OR Tambo District Commissioner Major General Norman Modishana has confirmed the arrest of two male suspects, aged 43 and 49, in connection with the alleged murder of a 57-year-old woman. The incident took place on Sunday, 19 April 2026, at approximately 11:10 in the Chibini locality, Ngquqha Administrative Area.
According to the report, the 43-year-old suspect is the alleged boyfriend of the deceased. Both suspects and the victim were observed leaving a local tavern together prior to the incident. The deceased’s lifeless body was subsequently discovered near the tavern by community members.
Bityi detectives conducted preliminary investigations that resulted in the arrests. It is alleged that sticks were used as weapons to assault the victim. The motive for the murder remains under investigation.
