LIMPOPO – A 40-year-old Nigerian national appeared in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, facing charges of drug dealing and possession, following a targeted law enforcement operation in Polokwane. The case highlights ongoing regional efforts to dismantle local narcotics distribution networks.
The suspect was taken into custody on Monday, 17 August 2026, during a coordinated disruptive operation executed by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Narcotics, Anti-Gang Unit, and the Organised Crime Unit.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding a white Kia Picanto allegedly utilized for drug deliveries in the area, police spotted the vehicle traveling along the R101 route. Upon being monitored, the driver accelerated and fled the scene. A vehicular pursuit ensued until the R37 road, where the suspect abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot before being apprehended by law enforcement officers.
