Three Arrested for Stock Theft, Stolen Cattle Recovered

Police arrested three suspects, aged between 40 and 80, for stock theft during an intelligence-driven operation in Moeding Village, within the Rakgoadi policing area, on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.

The operation involved members from SAPS Rakgoadi, Motetema Crime Prevention Unit, Marblehall Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit, and the Sekhukhune Tracking Team. Officers acted on information regarding suspected stolen livestock in the village.

During the operation, police recovered seven cattle positively linked to a stock theft case in the Rakgoadi policing area. The cattle were identified and returned to the lawful owner. Preliminary investigations also revealed that two additional cattle had already been slaughtered and their carcasses removed.

The three suspects were traced and arrested. One suspect, who owns a butchery in Jane Furse, was arrested while driving a white Toyota Hilux with a trailer. He was found in possession of a licensed firearm and suspected stolen red meat loaded in the trailer. Police seized the white Toyota Hilux and the firearm.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 24 April 2026.
