Police Investigate Explosives and Illicit Cigarettes Found Behind Musina Truck Park

Police in Musina, Vhembe District, have launched an investigation following the discovery of explosives and illicit cigarettes behind a local truck park on Thursday morning, 23 April 2026.

The incident was reported by members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), who alerted the police after making the discovery in nearby bushes behind the truck park.

Upon arrival, police were led to the crime scene. Recovered items included six reels of detonating fuse and 150 Carmex connector capped fuses, with an estimated value of R165,000. In addition, 52 cartons of Remington cigarettes, valued at approximately R3,441, were found at the scene.

The origin and intended use of the items remain unknown at this stage, and investigations are underway.
