Police in Matlelerekeng have arrested a 39-year-old male suspect in connection with the murder of his 34-year-old girlfriend at Spitzpunt village on Sunday, 19 April 2026.
The suspect was handed over to police by his family on the night of Monday, 20 April 2026.
According to police reports, officers were initially summoned to the scene following a report of a murder. Upon arrival at a residence in Spitzpunt village, they discovered the lifeless body of the female victim. The victim had sustained multiple stab wounds.
A case of murder was formally opened. The suspect was subsequently traced and taken into police custody.
The 39-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.
Police investigations are ongoing.
