On the morning of 20 April 2026, learners at E.Z. Kabane Senior Secondary School were in their classrooms when an unannounced safety operation was conducted on the school premises by Social Crime Prevention officers.
The operation aimed to address escalating concerns regarding criminal elements and contraband within the school environment. According to officials, the searches were conducted calmly and respectfully, with officers moving through the school while engaging learners on the importance of safety and responsible decision-making.
During the search, law enforcement officials recovered the following items:

Six (6) knives

Two (2) packets of cocaine

Four (4) dagga zols

Ten (10) vaping devices

Additional loose dagga wrapped in white paper
Authorities stated the discoveries underscore the necessity of proactive policing in educational spaces. The operation concluded with officers reminding learners that safety is a shared responsibility. The school returned to its normal routine following the departure of the team.
