Police in the Sekhukhune District recovered two illegal firearms and ammunition during an operation on Monday, 20 April 2026.
Members attached to Masemola SAPS, supported by the Nebo Jane Furse Tracking Team and Sekhukhune Flying Squad, conducted the operation at Ga-Masemola, Thabampye village.
The operation led to the recovery of a shotgun loaded with eight live rounds of ammunition. A second firearm, a .303 rifle with five live rounds, was also recovered at a separate location in Apel Cross.
A 33-year-old male suspect was arrested for murder. He was further charged with possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.
Police investigations are ongoing.
