Fifth Suspect Arrested in Wynberg Magistrate’s Court Shooting

Police have apprehended a fifth suspect in connection with the brazen shooting at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court earlier this month, marking a significant breakthrough in the high-profile case.

The shooting shocked the community as armed assailants opened fire outside the courthouse. The attack was allegedly linked to an ongoing gang-related trial, though authorities have not yet confirmed the exact motive.

A Western Cape police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was tracked down during a coordinated operation. “Our investigators have been working tirelessly to ensure all those involved face justice,” the spokesperson said.

Four other suspects were previously arrested, with one appearing in court earlier this week. The latest arrest raises hopes that authorities are closing in on the full network behind the attack.

The incident has reignited concerns over courtroom security and gang violence in Cape Town. Provincial officials have vowed to increase policing around judicial facilities to prevent similar attacks.

The fifth suspect is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges including attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, and conspiracy to commit violence.
