Mokwakwaila Police Arrest Two Suspects for Possession of Dagga in Senakwe Village

MPUMALANGA — Members of the Mokwakwaila Police have arrested two suspects for the possession of dagga following a targeted crime prevention and visibility patrol in Senakwe Village. The operation culminated in the seizure of the illicit substance and the vehicle allegedly used to transport it.

The incident occurred on Thursday, 23 July 2026, at approximately 15:00. During the patrol, police officers identified a suspicious red Volkswagen Jetta carrying two occupants. The vehicle was subsequently pulled over, and a search was conducted after the occupants granted consent.

During the search, authorities discovered dagga concealed in the boot and on the back seat of the vehicle. When questioned, the pair—a 36-year-old male and a 26-year-old female—could not provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin of the narcotics. Consequently, they were immediately placed under arrest.

The Mokwakwaila Police confirmed that the seized dagga has an estimated street value of R9,000. The red VW Jetta, which was allegedly utilized in the commission of the crime, was also impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.

The two suspects are scheduled to appear before the Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 July 2026, to face formal charges of possession of dagga. Police investigations into the matter remain active and ongoing.
