Four Arrested in Makhado for Possession of Unlicensed Firearms

Police in Makhado, Vhembe District, arrested four suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition during an intelligence-driven operation on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at approximately 14:00.

The suspects, aged 33, 41, and 69, were arrested at a plot in Rondebosch following a tip-off about a suspicious motor vehicle at the premises.

Upon arrival, police found three males and conducted a search of the individuals and their vehicle, a white Corsa. During the search, officers recovered three firearms and ammunition inside the vehicle.

Police then proceeded to another premises on Kock Street, where two revolvers and one pipe gun were recovered. A fourth suspect, aged 38, was subsequently arrested at that scene.

All four suspects are scheduled to appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 14 May 2026, on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
