Police have launched a manhunt for unknown suspect(s) following a stock theft incident at Sterkfontein, Motetema.
According to reports, on 1 April 2026 at approximately 17:30, a 55-year-old man returned from the grazing fields with his 14 sheep and secured them inside a kraal, ensuring the gate was properly closed.
On the morning of 2 April 2026, the complainant discovered that the kraal gate had been forced open and all 14 sheep were missing. He searched for the livestock without success before reporting the matter to the police.
The total estimated value of the stolen sheep is R21,000.
The suspect(s) remain unknown. The case has been transferred to the Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit for further investigation.
