The Fraserburg Regional Court has sentenced 33-year-old Brendon Barnard to 15 years of direct imprisonment for a violent attack on his girlfriend. The court also declared Barnard unfit to possess a firearm.
The incident took place on the evening of 15 September 2024. Barnard went to the residence of the victim’s aunt, where the victim was living. He forcefully dragged the victim from the house, assaulted her, stabbed her with a knife, and issued threats. He then forced the victim to accompany him to her mother’s house, where the assault continued.
