A 41-year-old parolee arrested by detectives attached to the Hlababomvu Police Station appeared before the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.
The accused, a resident of Butyumbu locality, Ngcoya A/A, faces a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). It is alleged that on 11 April 2026, he struck a 25-year-old male victim with an empty beer bottle while the two were socialising at a local tavern in the same locality.
Investigators stated that the accused had evaded arrest on several occasions. Police learned that he regularly reported to the Lusikisiki Correctional Services facility as required by his parole conditions. A trap was set, and he was apprehended while inside the facility on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
During his court appearance on 22 April, the suspect was remanded in custody. The case has been postponed to 30 April 2026 for further proceedings.
