Police Arrest Suspect, Recover Stolen Vehicle in Mpumalanga

Police in Mpumalanga have arrested a suspect and recovered a double cab bakkie that was reported stolen in North West Province.

The vehicle, a silver Toyota Legend 50, was intercepted by officers from the Nelspruit Flying Squad on the N4 highway on Sunday, 12 April 2026.

According to police, they received information about the vehicle, which had been reported stolen earlier this month in Phokeng, North West Province. Officers subsequently went on the lookout and spotted a vehicle matching the description traveling on the N4 near Alkmaar.

Upon stopping the vehicle and conducting a preliminary investigation, police determined that the vehicle was fitted with false registration plates and a false registration disc. It was confirmed to have been reported stolen in North West Province.

The driver, a 39-year-old Mozambican national, was arrested and charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.
