The South African Police Service’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) in Gqeberha has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a six-year-old girl.
According to police statements, FCS detectives acted on information regarding two persons of interest believed to be in Makhanda. This led to the arrest of a 25-year-old female and a 31-year-old male. The suspects were then transported back to Gqeberha for further investigation.
On Friday, 10 April 2026, investigators discovered the body of a child in a shallow grave at St George’s Beach. The two suspects have been detained on charges of murder.
They are expected to appear at the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 April 2026.
The identity of the deceased child has not yet been released pending the completion of formal identification processes.
