The Western Cape Anti-Corruption Unit arrested two Law Enforcement officers on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, for corruption.
The arrests relate to an incident on Monday, 05 January 2026, when the officers stopped a drunk driver on Voortrekker Road in Parow. They did not arrest the driver. Instead, they solicited a R3000 bribe. The officers filmed the driver, saved their contacts on his phone, and told him he could pay later.
The driver reported the incident to the Anti-Corruption Unit. Detectives instructed him to assist in an undercover operation.
On 13 January 2026, the driver, supplied with marked notes, met the officers at an agreed location. The officers deleted the video in his presence and accepted the marked money. They were arrested immediately.
Their cell phones and the marked money were seized as evidence. They will appear in the Bellville Magistrateâs Court once charged.
SAPS encourages victims of corruption to come forward to initiate investigations.
