Two Arrested in Connection with Hibberdene Murder and House Robbery

Police have arrested two men in connection with the brutal murder of 64-year-old Mrs. Khanyisile Ngwane, whose body was discovered at her home in the Nhlabamkhosi area of Mthwalume earlier this month.

The suspects, aged 24 and 36, were taken into custody on Thursday, 23 October 2025. They face charges of murder and possession of property suspected to be stolen.

The case was opened after the lifeless body of Mrs. Ngwane was found in a pool of blood inside her house on Tuesday, 14 October 2025. Police were summoned to the crime scene, where initial investigations revealed that the victim’s residence had been robbed of valuable items. A case of murder and house robbery was subsequently registered at the Hibberdene Police Station.

Following intensive investigations, a breakthrough came on Thursday. A 24-year-old suspect was arrested in the Nyangwini area after he was found in possession of items believed to have been stolen from the late Mrs. Ngwane’s home.

On the same day, police arrested a second suspect, a 36-year-old man, also for the murder of Mrs. Ngwane.

Both suspects have been charged with murder and possession of property suspected to be stolen. They are scheduled to make their first appearance at the Mzumbe Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 October 2025.
