Members of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit arrested two suspects and seized counterfeit liquor valued at an estimated R105,000 during an operation on Saturday.
According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 15:00 on 14 March 2026. Authorities acted on intelligence regarding a Toyota Hilux traveling from Queenstown toward Bloemfontein along the N6. The vehicle was suspected of transporting illicit goods.
Operational members positioned themselves along the route, identified the vehicle, and stopped it. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered several boxes of counterfeit liquor.
The occupants, a 24-year-old male and a 22-year-old female, were unable to produce valid invoices or explain the origin of the merchandise. They were arrested on charges of possession of counterfeit goods.
The suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon.
