Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for two suspects following the fatal shooting of a senior traditional leader during a house robbery in the Hamakhubva Ndarieni village early Monday morning.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 00:00 on 2 March 2026 at the Royal House of the Traditional Authority. It is alleged that two unknown suspects forced entry into the residence by breaking a window.
Once inside, the suspects reportedly demanded money and vehicle keys from the occupants. During the confrontation, a 59-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Vhamusanda (Khosi) Vho- Makhuvha Thiambiwi (Ntikedzeni) Eric.
A second victim, who sustained injuries during the incident, was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene with a white Toyota Hilux bearing registration number FVN 938L. Items stolen also include a laptop, a television set, and two cellular phones.
Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the killing. In a statement, she described the attack on the traditional leader as a “brutal killing.”
Witnesses reported that the suspects were wearing balaclavas and uniforms resembling those of security personnel. One suspect was armed with a firearm, while the other was in possession of a knife.
Police have opened cases of house robbery and murder, and investigations are ongoing.
