Police in the Western Cape have opened cases of murder and attempted murder after a shooting at a residence in Rocklands left three people dead and a teenage girl injured on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police reports, officers responded to a complaint at a home on Viscount Street at approximately 16:50. Upon arrival, they discovered three individuals with fatal gunshot wounds. The deceased have been identified as a 39-year-old woman, a 29-year-old man, and a 36-year-old man.
A 15-year-old girl who was also shot during the incident sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that an unknown grey vehicle stopped in front of the residence. Three unidentified males, their faces concealed with balaclavas, allegedly entered the house and opened fire on the occupants before fleeing the scene.
Crime scene experts processed the area and recovered several spent cartridges along with other exhibits for further analysis.
Authorities stated that while the motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related, this aspect remains part of the active investigation.
