Swift Police Action Leads to Drug Bust in Hanover Park

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after police officers acting on a tip-off discovered a significant quantity of drugs at a residence in Hanover Park.

Members of the Public Order Policing unit, deployed as part of Operation Shanela II, received intelligence regarding the sale of narcotics from a premises located in Lucerna Place. Officers operationalized the information and proceeded to the identified house, where a search was conducted on the afternoon of 22 February 2026.

According to police reports, the search led to the confiscation of 158 sachets containing tik, one bank sachet containing five grams of tik, and 18 and a half Boss mandrax tablets.

The suspect is due to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court once formal charges have been brought against him.
