A 32-year-old suspect, Themane Simon, appeared before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 13 March 2026, facing charges related to stock theft. The case was registered at the Motetema policing area.
During the court proceeding, Simon was remanded in custody. The case has been postponed to 17 March 2026 to allow for further police investigations.
According to police reports, the incident began on Thursday, 12 March 2026, at approximately 01:00, when a complainant opened a case of stock theft at the Motetema SAPS. The complainant had received information regarding the possible whereabouts of his stolen goats at a farm in Masakaneng, which falls under the Groblersdal policing area.
Authorities, accompanied by the complainant, proceeded to the identified location and conducted a search. During the operation, six goats belonging to the complainant were recovered. The owner positively identified the animals through his unique brand mark and other distinctive features.
Subsequent investigative work led to the arrest of Themane Simon. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
