Stock Theft on the Rise in Pixley Ka Seme District, Three Suspects Arrested in De Aar

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Pixley Ka Seme District has expressed concern over the recent surge in reported stock theft cases. Farmers are being urged to adhere to SAPS safety tips and measures, regularly shared through media platforms, to protect their livestock.

In a recent incident, police in De Aar responded swiftly to a tip-off leading to the arrest of three suspects. On Sunday, 10 August 2025, at approximately 11:00, authorities received information about three unknown men standing at a hiking spot near a farm in De Aar. The individuals were reportedly carrying bags suspected to contain meat.

Acting on the information, SAPS members, with the assistance of the Highway Patrol, located and searched the suspects. Meat was found in their possession, and further investigations revealed it was from an allegedly stolen Stud Dorper ram valued at approximately R50,000.

The suspects, aged 20, 50, and 52, were arrested and charged with stock theft.
