SAPS Anti-Gang Unit Seizes Weapons and Drugs at Dr Böhmer School

Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) confiscated weapons, drugs, and contraband during a search operation at Dr Böhmer School on Tuesday morning.

The intelligence-driven operation took place in the early hours of the school day on 10 March 2026, in the Parkweg District. According to police, the raid was conducted as part of the SAPS’s ongoing school safety mandate to eliminate criminal elements and ensure a safe environment for learners and educators.

AGU members conducted systematic searches of 18 classrooms during the operation. Police reported that learners were found in possession of a variety of illegal items, including several knives, balaclavas, cannabis (dagga), cigarettes, electronic vapes, and quantities of copper wire.

The learners involved were processed by police on the scene. They were subsequently handed over to the school’s management team to face internal disciplinary proceedings and intervention programs.
