The provincial police management has welcomed the sentencing of Mark Sekelani (25) to two terms of life imprisonment plus an additional 50 years behind bars. Sekelani was convicted on multiple counts of rape, as well as charges of kidnapping and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The crimes were perpetrated in and around the Thembalethu area in George. The cases were assigned to a team of investigators from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit based in George.
Investigators linked Sekelani to the three separate incidents through DNA analysis, which led to his subsequent arrest.
