Police Seize Drugs, Illegal Firearm in Intelligence-Led Bust

A coordinated police operation in the Sekhukhune District has resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old suspect on serious charges related to illicit weapons and narcotics.

The intelligence-driven operation was executed on Wednesday, 03 December 2025, by a team from the Nebo and Jane Furse Tracking units. Acting on specific information regarding a vehicle allegedly used to distribute drugs in the Jane Furse and Nebo areas, authorities successfully traced and intercepted the vehicle along the R579 road near Brooklyn village.

The initial interception led investigators to the suspect’s residence in Mochadi village, where a subsequent search was conducted.

During the search, police made significant recoveries. They confiscated an illegal pistol whose serial number had been filed off. The firearm was found loaded with live rounds of ammunition. Additionally, a substantial quantity of suspected nyaope drugs, with an estimated street value of R26,200.00, was seized.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest.

The 36-year-old man is scheduled to appear before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 04 December 2025. He faces formal charges of possession of an illegal firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of drugs.
