Police Recover Stolen Laptops, Arrest Suspect

On Tuesday, 13 January 2026, a 27-year-old man was arrested near Mall @ Lebo in Lebowakgomo, leading to the recovery of stolen property.

The arrest followed a theft report filed earlier that day at 10:30 by a woman from Unit B, Lebowakgomo, where items including laptops were stolen.

Police received information about a man attempting to illegally unlock and sell laptops near the mall. During a search, officers intercepted two men with a white backpack on the R579 road next to the mall. One suspect fled, and the 27-year-old was arrested.

A search of the backpack found stolen property valued at R60,000: a laptop charger, one silver HP laptop, and one black HP laptop. The suspect could not account for the items.

He will appear in the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property. Police are investigating possible links to other laptop thefts in the area over the past three weeks.

Investigations continue.
