Two suspects wanted for at least four murders in the Hillcrest policing area, including the recent killings of an 84-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl, were fatally shot during a shootout with police in the early hours of Saturday, 21 March 2026.
According to police reports, officers acted on intelligence regarding the suspects’ whereabouts and proceeded to a residence on Mkhelekehleni Road in KwaNgcolosi. Upon arriving at a rondavel house where the suspects were sleeping, a shootout ensued between police and the occupants.
Two suspects were shot and sustained fatal wounds during the exchange. No police officers were injured.
Authorities have opened cases of attempted murder of police officers for investigation.
