Police in Letsitele have arrested a 24-year-old suspect for the murder of a 64-year-old man in Ntsako Village following an alleged dispute over witchcraft.
According to police reports, officers responded to a complaint at approximately 10:10 on Friday, 13 March 2026. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered the elderly victim lying on the ground with head injuries. Two black three-legged iron pots were found next to him. Emergency Medical Services personnel attended to the victim but declared him dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was painting a house in the village when the suspect accused him of practicing witchcraft. It is alleged that the suspect then used the iron pots to assault the victim, causing fatal injuries.
The suspect was apprehended later on Friday. He is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 March 2026, on a charge of murder.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
