A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in direct imprisonment for the theft of 37 sheep in Qwaqwa during December 2020.
The incident occurred in the Tebang section of Makwane Village. A 27-year-old woman reported that she was sleeping at her home when she awoke to see two individuals removing sheep from her kraal. Fearful and unable to scream for help, she woke her mother and informed her that their livestock had been stolen.
Detective Warrant Officer Mphamo Mokoena led the investigation. The accused, Tieho Molefe, was linked to the crime through DNA evidence.
Molefe was found guilty and subsequently sentenced to six years of direct imprisonment.
