The Sweizer-Reneke Regional Court has sentenced a 29-year-old man to 20 years imprisonment for the rape of a 27-year-old woman in Ipelegeng.
Buru Mopalami was found guilty of rape. The court heard that the victim was visiting a local tavern in Ipelegeng, near Wolmaransstad, when Mopalami threatened her with a knife and forcibly took her to his house, where he raped her.
Mopalami was declared unfit to possess a firearm in terms of the Firearms Control Act.
