Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Fatal Stabbing in Love Triangle

The Tembisa Police Station commander has welcomed the sentencing of a man convicted of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s new partner in 2023.

Brigadier Cyril Nkuna expressed support for the judgment handed down to Walter Mgwadleka (39) following his conviction for murder. The sentence was delivered in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.

The court heard that the incident stemmed from a love triangle. Mgwadleka’s ex-girlfriend had ended their relationship and was romantically involved with Themba Mbuyisa, who was 66 years old at the time. The accused attacked Mbuyisa at the gate of the woman’s residence, using a knife to fatally stab him.

Following the report of the murder at Tembisa Police Station in 2023, the investigation was assigned to Warrant Officer Ronnie Rabedzwana. The investigating officer swiftly secured the arrest of Mgwadleka.

Magistrate Marley Mahlangu presided over the trial, which included multiple court appearances and testimony from various witnesses. Mgwadleka was found guilty of murder and sentenced to ten years of direct imprisonment, with no option of a fine.

Warrant Officer Rabedzwana stated that he was satisfied with the outcome, adding that he believes the verdict and sentence have provided the victim’s family with the justice and closure they deserved.
