Puseletso Mofokeng (40) has been sentenced to an effective 10 years direct imprisonment for raping a 19-year-old woman who refused his romantic advances.
The incident occurred on 10 November 2024 at approximately 14:15 in the Thaba Bosiu Village area of Qwaqwa. The victim was at a tavern when Mofokeng approached her and pulled her outside.
Court testimony revealed that Mofokeng demanded that the woman enter into a romantic relationship with him. When she refused, he proceeded to rape her.
The Phuthaditjhaba Family, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit worked with the National Prosecuting Authority to secure the conviction. Mofokeng was found guilty and sentenced on 6 March 2026.
