The Bohlokong Detective Services, in conjunction with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), has secured a 15-year direct imprisonment sentence for 32-year-old Neo Majama. He was convicted on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Majama was sentenced for attacking Lehlohonolo Mabitsela (41) with a steel pipe, an incident that left the victim with two severe open wounds to the head.
The assault occurred in the early hours of Friday, 21 March 2025. According to police reports, at approximately 03:00, a woman was involved in an argument with her ex-boyfriend, Majama, at a residence on Bibi Street in Bohlokong. Fearing for her safety, she approached her neighbor, Lehlohonolo Mabitsela, for help. Mabitsela intervened and reprimanded Majama, after which the accused returned to his rented room.
Later, the woman asked Mabitsela to accompany her to Mosia Street as a safety precaution. While they were walking, not far from Mabitsela’s residence, Majama emerged from a concealed area armed with a steel pipe. He then struck Mabitsela on the head multiple times, causing serious open wounds, before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim was subsequently rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment.
An intensive investigation by law enforcement led to Majama’s arrest on 16 May 2025. He was denied bail and remained in custody throughout the duration of his trial.
