A 31-year-old man, Zethembe Mkhaliphi, appeared before the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, facing a charge of murder.
The court appearance is the result of a police investigation into a fatal stabbing that occurred on Saturday, 06 September 2025, in the Nkanini Section of Carolina. According to a police report, the female victim was allegedly attacked by Mkhaliphi, who is identified as her male companion.
The report indicates that members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, they were met by a member of the victim’s family. The victim’s lifeless body was discovered lying in a pool of blood. Paramedics at the scene unfortunately certified her dead.
The suspect was subsequently apprehended and charged with murder. The case has been postponed to 17 September 2025 for a formal bail application. Mkhaliphi remains in custody.
