A 58-year-old man has been arrested for alleged fraud following an intelligence-driven operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mohlakeng on Friday.
According to police, the investigation began in November 2025 after authorities received information regarding an individual allegedly producing and selling fraudulent documents. The items reportedly included fake diploma certificates, matric certificates, motor vehicle licence discs, and soccer match tickets.
Members of the Mohlakeng Detective Team launched an investigation and monitored the suspect’s activities. On Friday, 13 March 2026, the team conducted an operation in Toekomsrus, where the suspect was traced and taken into custody.
During the arrest, police seized several items believed to be linked to the illicit operation, including an undisclosed amount of cash, cellular phones, a USB device, a matric certificate, a hard drive, and a desktop computer.
The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Randfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 March 2026.
