A 33-year-old suspect has been arrested for the unlawful discharge of a firearm and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition following a shooting incident at a funeral on Saturday, 21 March 2026.
According to police, members of the Motherwell South African Police Service (SAPS) Technical Response Team (TRT) acted on intelligence regarding a possible shooting at a funeral in NU 10, Mbaza Street. During a waylay operation, officers observed a white VW Polo Vivo whose driver allegedly fired shots toward the homestead where the funeral was taking place.
