Man Arrested After Drugs Worth R160 000 Seized

A 31-year-old Nigerian national has been arrested following the discovery and confiscation of narcotics with an estimated street value of R160 000 during a police raid in Lavalia, George.

The accused appeared before the George Magistrates’ court on Friday, 06 March 2026, on a charge of dealing in drugs. He was remanded in custody pending his next court appearance.

According to a police statement, members of the Outeniqua K9 Unit and Western Cape Organised Crime Investigations acted on information regarding alleged illegal activities at a residence on Gelderbloem Street in Lavalia.

On Wednesday, 04 March 2026, officers conducted a search of the premises. During the operation, they recovered 260 mandrax tablets, 421 grams of tik (crystal meth), and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was arrested at the scene.

The case has been postponed to Wednesday, 11 March 2026, for a formal bail application.
