
A coordinated intelligence-driven operation by the Frances Baard District Illicit Mining Task Team resulted in the seizure of dagga valued at over R136,000 and the arrest of a 37-year-old suspect on Saturday.
Members of the task team acted on intelligence regarding the alleged sale of drugs at a premises in John Daka Phase One, Galeshewe, on 14 March 2026. The information was operationalised, leading to a raid on the identified location.
During the subsequent search and seizure operation, authorities uncovered a significant quantity of dagga. The estimated street value of the confiscated narcotics is R136,491.
The suspect, a 37-year-old individual, was arrested on site and is currently in police custody. He is expected to appear before the local magistrate’s court soon to face charges of possession of dagga.
