A 52-year-old man was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation (SOCI) unit in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 16 July 2025, following the discovery of drugs worth an estimated R1 million in his possession.
The arrest took place in the Brixton area after Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) officers stopped a white Chevrolet during a routine patrol. Upon searching the vehicle with the driver’s consent, officers uncovered 6 kg of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) concealed in the boot.
Authorities immediately alerted the Hawks’ SOCI team, which took over the investigation and arrested the suspect. The suspect is expected to appear before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 18 July 2025, where he will face charges of dealing in drugs.
