Four Suspects Apprehended Following Carjacking

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested four individuals in connection with a carjacking and robbery that took place in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 02:00 on 9 March 2026 at the Mothibistad traffic lights. The complainant was driving a Toyota Quantum when he was approached by four armed suspects allegedly wielding knives. The suspects robbed the victim of his vehicle before he managed to escape unharmed. The victim immediately reported the matter at the Mothibistad SAPS.

Police members responded promptly to the complaint. With the assistance of the Highway Patrol and a private vehicle tracking company, authorities pursued the suspects. The pursuit concluded at Logaganeng when the suspects lost control of the stolen vehicle, causing it to overturn.

All four suspects, aged between 19 and 23, were arrested at the scene. They sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment before being taken into custody.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon facing charges of carjacking and robbery. Police confirm that the investigation is ongoing.
