Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested four suspects in connection with a kidnapping case, leading to the safe recovery of the victim alive.
The incident began on Sunday, 01 March 2026, when a family in Paddock reported the kidnapping of their 38-year-old relative to the police.
On Monday, 02 March 2026, members of the Counter Narcotics Unit and the Provincial Organised Crime Threat Desk received intelligence that the suspects were inside a retail shop on St George’s Street in Durban. Officers summoned the Durban Central Crime Prevention Unit, who were in close proximity, to corner the suspects and prevent them from fleeing.
Police successfully arrested three suspects at the scene. A search of their vehicle led to the recovery of two bank cards belonging to the victim, as well as a cellphone SIM card.
Following up on further investigations, police proceeded to Mayville, where the fourth suspect was apprehended. The 38-year-old kidnapping victim was found alive at that location.
The suspects, aged between 21 and 38, have been detained and charged with kidnapping. They are scheduled to appear before the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 04 March 2026.
