Four Apprehended Following Major Dagga Seizure

Four suspects have been arrested after police discovered drugs valued at over R670,000 during a routine stop-and-search operation on the N4 highway.

On 02 March 2026 at approximately 16:40, members of the White River Flying Squad were conducting stop-and-search operations on the N4 when they spotted a white Ford Ranger with Gauteng registration travelling past Kaapmuiden towards Mbombela.

The members, together with other crews, followed the vehicle and instructed the driver to stop. The driver complied and pulled over to the side of the road. Officers approached the driver and requested permission to search the vehicle.

During the search, members found tomatoes loaded at the back of the vehicle. Upon further inspection underneath the tomatoes, they discovered dagga wrapped in yellow cellotape.

A total of 56 plastic bags were confiscated, each weighing approximately 2kg, with a combined weight of approximately 111.68kg. The consignment carries an estimated street value of R670 080.

Four suspects—two females and two males—were arrested on scene for dealing in dagga. They appeared before the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on 03 March 2026 and were each granted bail.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
