A swift operation by Colesberg South African Police Service (SAPS) members on Thursday led to the arrest of a 39-year-old foreign national and the seizure of a quantity of dagga.
The successful interception followed actionable intelligence received by police regarding the possible transportation of drugs on the N1 highway towards the Eastern Cape.
Acting promptly on the information, officers operationalised a plan and, at approximately 05:00, located and intercepted the suspect’s vehicle, an Isuzu bakkie, near a fuel station.
The vehicle was stopped and subjected to a search. Upon inspection, police discovered several bags of dagga concealed at the back of the bakkie.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest on charges of illegal dealing in drugs. He is expected to make a formal appearance in the Colesberg Magistrate’s Court in the near future.
