Detectives have traced and arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a murder that took place on 7 March 2026.
The suspect has been formally charged and made a brief appearance before the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 19 March 2026. He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear again soon for a formal bail application and legal aid arrangements.
According to police reports, on Saturday, 7 March 2026, at approximately 03:00, a woman alleged that she was walking with her boyfriend in Zone 2, Meqheleng, when they encountered the suspect. The suspect reportedly asked the boyfriend whether he was a Lesotho national; the boyfriend responded negatively.
It is further alleged that the suspect then produced a knife and stabbed the boyfriend. The woman fled the scene to seek safety. The victim later succumbed to his injuries, after which a case of murder was opened for investigation.
