One person died and three were injured in a head-on collision on the N1 National Road near Verkeerdevlei this morning.
Emergency services responded to the scene at approximately 07:25.
A grey Volkswagen Polo TSI, travelling southbound towards Bloemfontein, collided head-on with a light truck travelling northbound towards Winburg.
One passenger in the Volkswagen Polo died at the scene. The deceased was seated in the rear behind the driver.
Three other occupants from the Polo—the front-seat passenger and two children from the rear—were transported to a hospital in Bloemfontein with moderate injuries.
The drivers of both the Volkswagen Polo and the truck were unharmed.
A culpable homicide case has been opened at the Verkeerdevlei Police Station.
