Delft Operation Leads to Two Arrests for Illegal Ammunition

A crime prevention operation in Delft South on Saturday morning resulted in the arrest of two men for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Members of the Delft Crime Prevention Unit followed up on information regarding a firearm at a premises in the area. Upon arrival, officers saw a man fleeing the address by jumping through a window.

The members gave chase on foot and apprehended the suspect in Wilger Street. A search of the 30-year-old man revealed a 9mm pistol and ten rounds of ammunition in his possession. He was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

During a subsequent search of the premises, a 23-year-old man was found in possession of five rounds of ammunition. He was arrested and faces a charge for the illegal possession of ammunition.

Both suspects are due to appear before the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
