Court Sentences 66-Year-Old Father to 20 Years for Daughter’s Rape

The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Dintletse Molefe, has welcomed the 20-year direct imprisonment sentence handed down by the Bafokeng Regional Court on Thursday, 25 September 2025, to a 66-year-old man convicted of raping his own daughter.

The court found the accused guilty of an attack that occurred in November 2022 at Chaneng village, near Phokeng. The accused, who was expected to protect and care for his daughter, then aged 18, instead betrayed her trust by threatening her with a knife and raping her.

Despite the accused pleading not guilty, the compelling testimony of the victim, corroborated by conclusive DNA evidence, proved his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The court firmly rejected the convict’s claim that the act was consensual.

In delivering the sentence, the accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm.
