The Hlanganani Police have opened a case of business robbery following a brazen overnight incident at a secondary school in Mahatlani Village last Thursday.
The event unfolded at approximately 10:40 PM on Thursday, 20 November 2025. Reports indicate that two security officers were on duty when they were approached by a group of about four unidentified males. The suspects were armed, dressed in blue work suits, and wore balaclavas to conceal their identities.
According to police, the armed suspects pointed firearms at the security officers. They then forcibly took the victims’ two cellphones and an undisclosed amount of personal cash.
The assailants proceeded to force open the door to the school’s administration block. Once inside, they locked the two security officers inside the strong room. One of the officers sustained minor injuries during the ordeal.
The victims were rescued the following morning when the school principal arrived and discovered the situation.
A subsequent inspection of the administration block revealed that a further theft had occurred. It was discovered that an undisclosed amount of cash and a laptop were missing from the office.
The Hlanganani Police were notified, and a formal case of business robbery has been opened. Investigations are ongoing.
