Anti-Gang Unit Seizes Three Firearms, Arrests One Suspect

The Gauteng Anti-Gang Unit arrested a 31-year-old man and recovered three unlicensed firearms during an operation in Germiston on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

According to police, members of the unit were conducting patrols in the areas of Reiger Park and Germiston when they observed approximately seven men fleeing upon noticing the police vehicle. Officers pursued the group and apprehended one suspect.

Upon searching the detained individual, police discovered a firearm with its serial number filed off. Following the arrest, the suspect cooperated with investigators and led them to his residence. A subsequent search of the home resulted in the recovery of two additional firearms, both of which also had their serial numbers removed.

The 31-year-old suspect is currently in custody and faces charges related to the possession of unlicensed firearms. He is expected to appear before a local magistrate soon.
